As 2024 came to an end, several cricketers marked the year by entering a new phase in their personal lives.
Many of them tied the knot, with some of the weddings attracting significant media attention.
On January 19, 2024, former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik married Pakistani TV actress Sana Javed in a private ceremony, following his separation from former tennis star Sania Mirza.
England’s Olly Stone married his fiancée Jessica on October 12, 2024. Stone had to leave the England team’s tour of Pakistan temporarily to attend the wedding, rejoining the squad soon after.
Afghanistan’s star all-rounder Rashid Khan wed on October 3, 2024, along with his brothers Amir Khalil, Zakiullah, and Raza Khan, all of whom also celebrated their marriages.
South Africa’s explosive batter David Miller married his long-time girlfriend, Camilla Harris, on March 10, 2024, in a ceremony held in Cape Town. Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram revealed that Miller had postponed the wedding due to commitments in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Miller’s excellent performance in the BPL helped his team, Fortune Barishal, win the trophy for the first time.
Indian cricketer Venkatesh Iyer experienced a joyful 2024, winning the IPL 2024 trophy with Kolkata Knight Riders. On June 2, 2024, he married Shruti Ragunathan in a private ceremony.
In the women’s cricket world, Pakistan’s Aliya Riaz married former banker and now cricket commentator Ali Younis on April 12, 2024. Younis is also the younger brother of former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis.
On February 5, 2024, Javeria Khan, former captain of the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team, tied the knot with Waqas in Karachi. Javeria, who represented Pakistan in 228 international matches, retired a month after her wedding in March 2024.
Lastly, on December 28, 2024, Sidra Amin of Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team married Adil Masood in a private ceremony held in a Lahore housing society.
