Former US envoy for special missions Richard Grenell urged the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder during an interview with an American television channel.
Grenell compared the PTI founder to former US President Donald Trump, calling both leaders unconventional politicians. He said the corruption allegations against the PTI founder resembled those faced by Trump and termed them "baseless".
He stated that relations between the United States and Pakistan improved during the Trump administration when the PTI founder led Pakistan.
Grenell highlighted that the PTI founder remained an unconventional politician and called for his release from prison. He asserted that the leader faced charges similar to those imposed on President Trump.
Grenell also referred to US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller's ambiguous statement, interpreting it as a call for the PTI founder’s release.
