Pakistan is making significant strides toward improving landline internet speeds as modern cables are being connected today, sources reveal.
The new cable system will integrate Pakistan into a 45,000-kilometer-long global internet network. It will connect with 46 cable landing stations across Europe, Africa, and Asia, significantly enhancing connectivity and internet performance.
The initiative is part of Facebook Meta’s "Africa-2" cable project, of which Pakistan is also a participant. According to sources, the cable will be fully operational by 2025, allowing traffic load management and faster internet speeds for users.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has confirmed the connection of the Africa-2 cable, stating that consumers can expect to benefit from ultra-fast internet speeds starting in 2025. This development is set to mark a milestone in Pakistan's digital transformation and global internet connectivity.
