Heated exchanges occurred in the National Assembly between PTI leader Asad Qaiser and Federal Minister Rana Tanveer, as both engaged in a war of words over alleged pressure on opposition MNAs.
Former Speaker Asad Qaiser claimed that raids were being conducted on the residences of the PTI MNAs in Punjab to coerce them into resigning. “Our MNAs are being told to resign, and their resignations will be accepted immediately. If forced resignations continue, we will not allow the Assembly to function,” Qaiser said.
He questioned the progress of a special committee formed to investigate the matter.
Federal Minister Rana Tanveer rejected Qaiser’s allegations, saying, “Mr Qaiser, you have been misinformed. The Punjab government is not conducting raids. Your MNAs are deceiving you.”
Reminding the Assembly of the KP government’s actions, Rana Tanveer added, “You couldn’t even mobilise five people. If the Punjab government wishes, it can bring out ten lakh people.”
Tanveer further criticised Qaiser, accusing PTI of adopting "authoritarian tactics" during its tenure. “You should be ashamed of the destruction caused over four years. You ruled like Mussolini and Hitler,” the federal minister stated.
