Kim Kardashian has announced a change in plans for the Kardashian family’s highly anticipated Christmas Eve celebration this year, revealing that a more intimate affair will replace the extravagant gathering.
Speaking to Vogue on Thursday during the grand opening of her SKIMS store in New York City, the 44-year-old reality star explained the decision to forego their usual lavish festivities.
"We have a lot of construction going on, so we're doing a family-intimate one that I'm excited about," Kardashian shared.
Despite opting for a smaller gathering, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star emphasized that the family would not compromise on their festive fashion.
“Still dressing up to the nines, because that’s what we do,” she added.
The Kardashian Christmas Eve party has long been a tradition, with previous years featuring opulent themes and star-studded guest lists. Their 2018 event reportedly cost around $1.3 million, transforming the venue into a winter wonderland with a John Legend performance.
The 2022 gathering featured a live performance by pop singer Sia, while last year’s celebrations showcased a ski-lodge-inspired theme.
The annual party, often attended by Hollywood’s elite, has seen appearances by A-listers such as Drake, Jennifer Lopez, and Christina Aguilera.
Reflecting on the impact of these gatherings, Kardashian shared, “Our kids love them and now all their friends want to come. It’s such a fun tradition.”
While the family’s scaled-back plans mark a departure from their legendary festivities, Kardashian’s assurance of an intimate but stylish celebration ensures the tradition lives on, albeit in a more low-key fashion this year.
