WhatsApp is introducing a new update to improve the Updates tab interface, enhancing accessibility for status and channel updates.
According to WABetaInfo, the update brings quick shortcuts that simplify the process of updating statuses and channels. Users can now select and upload photos and videos directly from the interface, reducing the steps involved in choosing media from the gallery.
The Meta-owned messaging app also redesigned the button for creating text-based status updates and added an option for recording and sharing voice status updates. This provides users with a quicker way to share text and voice updates without relying on the floating action button.
The updates align with recent changes to other tabs, ensuring a modernised interface that enhances ease of navigation and update creation. WhatsApp is also adjusting the floating action button to enable users to share content within channels.
When selecting the floating action button, users will see several options, including creating status updates, starting new channels, or sharing photos, videos, voice, and text in existing channels. This redesign consolidates all content creation options into a unified section.
The new shortcuts are expected to be available to more users in the coming weeks. However, beta testers can explore them now in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.26.13 update on the Google Play Store.
