Another devastating incident of human trafficking has claimed lives as a boat carrying illegal migrants capsized near a southern Greek island.
The tragic accident resulted in the deaths of five Pakistani nationals, with dozens reported missing. Some survivors have been rescued, according to initial reports.
President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi have expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended their condolences and solidarity to the affected families.
Prime Minister’s Call for Action
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has demanded an immediate inquiry report, stating, "Human trafficking is a heinous crime that destroys innocent lives. Those responsible will be brought to justice." He also emphasized taking robust measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Investigations and Nationwide Crackdown
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered a thorough investigation into the accident and formed a special inquiry committee under the leadership of the Additional Secretary for the Ministry of Interior. The committee is tasked to submit its report within five days. Furthermore, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been directed to launch a nationwide crackdown against human traffickers and their networks.
