The Punjab government has decided to initiate a free dialysis program, with each patient set to receive an annual package worth Rs1 million. The Punjab Health Department has sent a summary regarding the program to the chief minister.
Under the new initiative, all dialysis patients will be provided with a special card and free dialysis services will be available at both government and private hospitals. In addition to dialysis, patients will receive free treatment for related health conditions, including heart diseases and infections.
The proposed program is set to allocate Rs7.5 billion for its first year. The Punjab Health Initiative Company will oversee the program, which will be managed separately from the Health Card Scheme. A third-party administrator will be hired to establish agreements with hospitals for the program's implementation.
