Pakistan’s agricultural exports marked significant progress as the first consignment of tractors reached Tanzania, setting a milestone in international trade.
The Kenyan-Tanzanian firm, Masai Tracta Company, partnered with Pakistani manufacturers to introduce agricultural machinery in Tanzania. This collaboration involved close cooperation between Pakistani industrialists and the Masai Tracta Company, aiming to establish Pakistan’s machinery in Tanzanian markets.
Led by Pak Tractors House Company, the initiative focused on penetrating new international markets and expanding Pakistan’s trade relations with East African nations. The development highlighted Pakistan's commitment to boosting its agricultural machinery trade and fostering global business partnerships.
Economic officials regarded this as a testament to Pakistan’s manufacturing sector’s potential in international commerce. Additionally, the initiative paved the way for further exports of agricultural machinery to East Africa.
The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) played a pivotal role in promoting this trade endeavour and establishing global business ties.
Separately, Pakistan’s rice exports to Saudi Arabia rose by 25 per cent in 2024, driven by the superior quality of its produce. The total rice exports reached $4 billion, with a target of $5 billion set for the upcoming fiscal year.
A comprehensive strategy aimed at enhancing production and quality through modern seed research and advanced agricultural practices was also planned. In fiscal 2024, Pakistan exported over 6 million tonnes of rice, including premium varieties like Basmati, which bolstered its global partnerships.
Efforts to solidify Pakistan’s position in Saudi Arabia’s rice market continued, as the Chairman of the Saudi-Pakistani Business Council lauded the quality of Pakistani rice and affirmed the commitment to strengthen Pakistan’s presence in Saudi markets.
