The negotiations between the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were likely to begin soon.
According to PTI leader Asad Qaiser, he had a meeting with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday. During the meeting, both the leaders discussed the political situation in the country, including the possibility of negotiations between the two sides.
Sources divulged that the informal discussion could lead to formal meetings where PTI would present its demands.

Separately, PTI founder Imran Khan's sister Aleema Khan said on Tuesday that the deposed prime minister had demanded an investigation into events that transpired on November 26.
Expressing her thoughts, Aleema said: "The PTI founder has urged the overseas Pakistanis to stop sending funds."
Aleema Khan emphasised the need for a judicial commission, comprising three senior judges of the Supreme Court, to probe the matter comprehensively.
