Rain and snowfall were expected in the northern regions of Pakistan tonight, with a possibility of hailstorms at some locations, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Saturday.
The department stated that most areas in the country experienced cold and dry weather, while northern parts and northern Balochistan remained extremely cold.
Partly cloudy conditions, with light to moderate rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, were forecast for upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, upper Punjab, Pothohar region, and Islamabad. Mountainous regions were likely to receive snowfall during this period.
Leh recorded the lowest temperature in the country at minus 10°C. Skardu followed with minus 9°C, while Qalat registered minus 7°C. Gupis recorded minus 6°C, and Astore, Gilgit, and Kalam saw temperatures drop to minus 5°C. Other regions, including Bagrote, Hunza, and Dir, experienced minus 3°C, Quetta recorded minus 2°C, and Malam Jabba registered minus 1°C.
Meanwhile, the Environmental Protection Agency reported that Islamabad’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 164, which was classified as unhealthy.
