The Met Department has forecast rain and snowfall in various parts of the country starting tomorrow, as westerly winds are expected to enter the upper regions.
This weather pattern is likely to intensify cold conditions nationwide.
According to the advisory, mountainous areas, including Hunza, Skardu, Neelum, Chitral, Malakand, and Abbottabad, are expected to experience rain and snowfall until December 14. Rain is also predicted in Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Gujranwala, and Lahore during this period.
Cold wave alert
The department has warned of a significant drop in temperature from December 8 to 14, with mercury levels expected to fall six degrees below normal in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. In Balochistan, temperatures may decrease by five to seven degrees below the seasonal average.
Hazy conditions, including cold winds, are also likely to affect the plains of Punjab and Balochistan. The advisory urges residents in areas experiencing severe cold to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities and travel.
The Met Department has called on relevant institutions to remain on high alert and prepared to address any emergencies resulting from the severe weather conditions.
