The Punjab Health Department carried out extensive raids across Lahore, Multan, and Dera Ghazi Khan, exposing a large racket involved in selling counterfeit medicines.
According to details, Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir revealed that the raids uncovered fake anesthesia injections, counterfeit cough syrups, and creams for skin infections.
In Lahore’s Gulberg area, authorities discovered the production of fake anesthesia injections, while in Multan, hundreds of bottles of counterfeit cough syrups were seized.
A significant consignment of fake skin creams was also recovered. Several pharmacies in Dera Ghazi Khan and Lahore were sealed, and FIRs were registered against those involved.
The culprits admitted to use the social media platforms, including WhatsApp groups, for selling these fake medicines.
The department confirmed that inspections of licensed pharmaceutical companies are ongoing, with notices issued over substandard manufacturing practices.
