The Lahore High Court Bahawalpur Bench has resolved the issue of a double fee hike at Sadiq Public School, ordering the institution to cancel the fee increase and revert to the old fee structure.
On being reprimanded, the school principal, David Dowdles, issued an unconditional apology.
Justice Faisal Zaman presided over the hearing, where he summoned the principal and expressed his disapproval of the fee hike. Addressing the principal, Justice Zaman remarked, "If children are treated like this, what will be their future?" Following the reprimand, the principal apologised unconditionally.
The court declared the school's fee hike invalid, instructing that all students should pay fees according to the previous structure. The bench also criticised the school for increasing fees despite the matter being under judicial review.
The controversy escalated when students who hadn’t paid the increased fees were denied entry to the school on Monday. Many students missed their ongoing examinations after being stopped at the school gate.
Following the court’s ruling, the school administration announced that new dates for the missed examinations would be shared soon. The case has now been dismissed after the verdict.
