The Peshawar High Court approved transit bail for Bushra Bibi, spouse of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in multiple cases until December 23.
Justice Waqar Ahmed presided over the hearing regarding her transit bail applications, while a separate two-member bench reviewed the details of her summons-related case.
During the proceedings, Bushra Bibi's counsel informed the court that she had filed for transit bail in 27 cases to ensure her appearance in relevant courts. The Additional Attorney General argued that she should directly approach the courts handling these cases. Responding to this, Justice Waqar Ahmed remarked, “We grant transit bail to facilitate her appearance in the appropriate courts.”
The petitioner’s lawyer requested an extension, citing over 50 cases requiring appearances. However, Justice Waqar Ahmed declined, pointing out the limited time available due to the upcoming winter vacations.
Meanwhile, a separate bench, comprising Justice SM Atiq Shah, addressed the admissibility of a petition linked to the summoning of Bushra Bibi. Justice Shah allowed time for the petitioner’s lawyer to prepare and deferred the hearing to the end of the court's schedule.
The court assured that Bushra Bibi’s presence would only be required when necessary, emphasizing adherence to due process and timely resolution of legal proceedings.
