Four new cases have been registered in Rawalpindi against PTI leaders and workers over their participation in the November 24 protest in Islamabad.
Prominent figures, including PTI founder, Bushra Bibi, Aleema Khan, Ali Amin Gandapur, Omar Ayub, Hammad Azhar, Asad Qaiser, and Arif Alvi, have been named in the FIRs. With these additions, the total number of cases registered in Rawalpindi and Islamabad now stands at 16, with eight cases filed in each city.
In Rawalpindi, the cases have been lodged at Dhamial, New Town, and Wah police stations, with two additional cases at Saddar police station. The Taxila police station has also registered three cases, one of which pertains to the killing of a police officer. The charges include provisions under the Anti-Terrorism Act, attempted murder, and interference in government operations, among other offenses.
According to the FIRs, an unlawful assembly was allegedly organized on the instructions of the PTI founder. The protesters obstructed public roads, disrupted daily life, and chanted slogans against state institutions.
The FIRs also accuse protesters of attacking police with sticks and stones, with several being apprehended at the scene. Items recovered include government wireless devices, tear gas shells, sticks, bullets, and slingshots, along with three vehicles used by the suspects, which were confiscated.
In Islamabad, similar cases have been filed at police stations in Shehzad Town, Sihala, Bani Gala, Khanna, Shams Colony, Tarnol, Noon, and Nilore. These cases name several prominent leaders, including Bushra Bibi, Ali Amin Gandapur, Salman Akram Raja, and Sheikh Waqas, along with thousands of unidentified individuals.
