The UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has issued an advisory for individuals applying for residency status regularisation under the UAE's amnesty program.
Applicants planning to leave the country after adjusting their status must adhere to the 14-day validity period of their exit permits.
Exit permits are issued through an electronic service accessible via the applicant’s personal account, company accounts, or authorised typing centres. The service is available on the ICP's official website and smart app.
To obtain an exit permit, applicants must follow these steps:
- Log in using the UAE PASS digital ID.
- Select the “Exit Permit Issuance” service.
- Choose the applicable category (e.g., family members, domestic workers, labourers, or cancelled visa holders).
- Select the individual requiring the exit permit.
- Submit the application, review and update details if necessary, and pay the fees.
- Receive the permit via email and ensure departure within the stipulated timeframe.
Important Reminders
- Exit permits must be used within their 14-day validity period.
- Departures should be made from the nearest exit port before the grace period ends on December 31.
- Violators who fail to leave on time will face reinstatement of previous penalties and restrictions.
For an exit permit without a re-entry ban, applicants need a valid passport or an active return document with no specific validity period. Travel documents issued by embassies or consulates are accepted if they match the residency details on record.
The ICP advised individuals to book travel tickets only after completing the exit permit process to avoid complications.
