Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a ceasefire deal with Hezbollah in Lebanon, following weeks of US-led negotiations supported by Western allies.
The agreement has marked a potential de-escalation after weeks of intense hostilities. Netanyahu confirmed the deal in a televised address on Tuesday, stating he would present it to his cabinet. If approved, the ceasefire could take effect as early as Wednesday.
During his speech, Netanyahu said, “Hezbollah is no longer the same. We have destroyed many missiles and rockets."
The ceasefire proposal includes Hezbollah withdrawing from southern Lebanon and Israel removing its forces from the country.
Israel has targeted Hezbollah positions across Lebanon, which led to over 3,500 reported causalities.
