The Green Pakistan Initiative, launched in 2023, has made significant progress in revolutionizing Balochistan's agricultural sector through sustainable irrigation solutions. The project, supported by Pakistan Army under General Asim Munir's leadership, has completed two major phases of solar-powered irrigation implementation.
In its initial phase, the initiative installed 40 solar tube wells, successfully irrigating 800 hectares of previously unproductive land. Building on this success, the second phase saw the installation of an additional 83 solar-powered tube wells, bringing 1,660 more hectares under cultivation.
The initiative aims to promote sustainable agriculture across the country, with Balochistan serving as a pilot region for implementation. Military authorities have pledged continued support to ensure the project's success and expansion.
This sustainable agriculture drive represents a significant step toward agricultural self-sufficiency in Pakistan's largest province by area, combining renewable energy with agricultural development.
