In an unexpected turn of events, a 25-year-old IT worker from the United Kingdom recently made a startling discovery in his KFC meal that has left both him and the public astonished.
Callum Feehan, a regular customer at a KFC outlet in Gillingham, uncovered a metal screw in his meal, raising serious questions about food safety standards and the company's response to such incidents.
Callum Feehan's ordeal unfolded last week when he purchased a meal from the KFC outlet on Canterbury Street in Gillingham, as reported by Metro. After returning home and savoring his meal, Feehan was taken aback when he sensed a metallic object among his chips.
To his utter disbelief, he pulled a fried screw from his mouth, expressing relief that he had not bitten into it, potentially risking a broken tooth.
Initial communication woes
Feehan, understandably perturbed by his discovery, sought to contact KFC immediately via Twitter (now known as X) to report the incident and express his concerns. However, he claimed that his initial attempts were met with silence, leaving him feeling ignored and frustrated.
"It was only when I threatened them with Environmental Health that they replied. They asked for a photo and asked where it was purchased and said they’d get back to me. That was Sunday, but there’s been nothing since," Feehan revealed.
Loyal customer left disappointed
What compounds Feehan's dissatisfaction is the fact that he has been a regular patron of the particular KFC outlet, visiting once or twice a week. He noted that he had encountered minor issues in the past but had not expected such a serious lapse in food safety.
Feehan expressed his surprise and disappointment that his report appears to have been taken lightly by the company, despite his loyalty as a customer.
"I wasn’t overly happy. I’d literally put a handful of chips in my mouth, and I could feel something rattling around in my mouth, and when I pulled it out, it was a fried screw. I could have broken a tooth – thankfully I didn’t," Feehan stated.
KFC response
Upon reaching out to KFC and threatening to involve Environmental Health, Feehan did eventually receive a response. The company requested a photograph of the foreign object and details about where the meal was purchased. KFC assured Feehan that they would investigate the matter further.
The incident has left many questioning the food safety measures in place at KFC outlets and the company's handling of customer complaints. As the investigation unfolds, concerned customers and the public await further developments in this unusual case, hoping for greater transparency and accountability in ensuring the safety of their meals.
