The district administration, in a rigorous crackdown against smog-related violations, sealed 36 shops late last night for defying the 8 PM market closure directive.
Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Rana Mohsin said that law enforcement intensified its efforts against smoke-emitting vehicles. 47 such vehicles were impounded at various police stations, while 127 were issued challans for contributing to air pollution.
Additionally, fines of Rs550,000 were imposed on vehicles operating without proper fitness certifications. Rana Mohsin emphasized that vehicles contributing to smog and environmental pollution would not be allowed to operate in the city.
These actions are part of ongoing measures to combat Lahore’s severe air pollution, as authorities enforce strict compliance with smog SOPs.
