President-elect Donald Trump has secured a decisive victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, surpassing the 270 electoral votes needed to claim the White House.
With the addition of Arizona's 11 electoral votes, Trump now stands at 312, according to projections from major U.S. news outlets, including CNN, Fox News, and NBC.
In a historic shift, Arizona, a state that supported Joe Biden in 2020, swung red in the final tally, marking a crucial flip for Trump’s campaign. The state’s results, along with a sweep of all seven battleground states, ensured Trump’s electoral victory. His win extends to key swing states, including Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin—each of which had voted for Democrats in the previous election.
As the results from across the country poured in, Trump solidified his hold over more than half of the 50 states. States such as Florida (30 electoral votes), Texas (40), and Pennsylvania (19) tipped the scales in his favor, bolstering his path to victory.
On the other hand, Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, who sought to make history as the first female president of the United States, secured 226 electoral votes.
While Harris won several strongholds, including California (54 votes), New York (28 votes), and Illinois (19 votes), her path to victory was ultimately blocked by Trump’s performance in the battlegrounds.
The final tally shows Trump’s victory in 31 states, while Harris secured 19 states and the District of Columbia. With the race nearing its conclusion, both campaigns continue to monitor developments as mail-in and absentee ballots are counted in some states.
