Hope Walz, the 23-year-old daughter of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, expressed her deep frustration after the recent presidential election, which saw Vice President Kamala Harris and her father, Tim Walz, lose to former President Donald Trump in a closely contested race.
On Thursday, Walz shared her "initial post-election thoughts" with followers on TikTok, as she processed the outcome.
In the video, which shows Walz eating "SpongeBob mac and cheese" while watching Netflix's *Outer Banks*, she revealed her anger over the election results. "I’ve officially reached the point of anger, and I’m not an angry person, so I’m just trying to channel it," she said. The young activist voiced her disappointment not just over the loss but also her belief that Americans had failed to recognize the leadership potential of Kamala Harris.
“This country does not deserve Kamala Harris,” Walz remarked, adding that the Vice President "should go live her best life wherever she wants, doing whatever she wants because we don’t deserve her at this point."
Hope Walz also took the opportunity to highlight the critical role that Black women played in the election, especially in delivering votes for the Democratic Party, but also called attention to what she perceives as the failure of the system to reward them adequately. “The only people who delivered this election were Black women, and we failed them,” she said, urging her followers and the Democratic Party to work harder in supporting these key communities.
Looking ahead, Walz acknowledged that, under a second term for President Trump, the coming years would be challenging for many, especially marginalized groups. She implored Democrats to step up and support these communities "through these next four years under Trump 2.0."
Hope Walz's candid remarks come amid a growing sense of disillusionment among some progressive circles, who feel that the political establishment has let down key voting blocs in America.
