Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called US President-elect Donald Trump and congratulated him on winning the presidential election.
According to Saudi state news agency SPA, during the call, MBS “expressed the Kingdom’s aspiration to strengthen the historical and strategic relations between the two countries, wishing the friendly American people progress and prosperity under (Trump’s) leadership,” SPA said.
In response, Trump “expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Crown Prince for his congratulations and his feelings towards the American people,” the report added.
Earlier on Wednesday, both MBS and King Salman sent separate congratulatory messages to Trump, who returned to the White House after defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
