The capital administration imposed on Saturday Section 144 to combat the challenges faced by smog.
According to details, Section 144 was imposed in the federal city to curb the air pollution. The smoke-emitting vehicles, factories, and brick kilns had been banned.
The burning of the waste and crops had also been banned to avert smog.
In connection with Section 144, the Islamabad additional district magistrate had issued the orders.
The district administration’s orders will be applicable immediately for the next two months.
Moreover, the district administration had warned against taking strict action if the orders are not followed.
– EPA pens letter to Islamabad DC for combating smog –
Earlier, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) warned that the smog would continue to prevail in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi from November to February.
According to details, the EPA had dispatched a letter to the Islamabad deputy commissioner to ensure the preventive measures for the citizens to combat smog.
It was urged in the letter to the Islamabad deputy commissioner to ban the smoke-emitting brick kilns, industries, and vehicles. The EPA warned against the prevailing threat of smog in the twin cities like Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Multan and Faisalabad.
The EPA had also predicted the worsening of the air pollution in Potohar region in the forthcoming days.
Highlighting the challenges posed by the smoggy conditions, the EPA said: “The smog harms badly the people’s health, air, and economy. The smog can also lead to the heart, eyes, respiratory and skin problems.
“The EPA is taking measures to combat smog. But the air pollution can only be controlled with the cooperation of the district administration,” said the letter.
