The threat of air pollution continues to loom across the country as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Saturday warned that the smog would continue to prevail in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi from November to February.
According to details, the EPA had dispatched a letter to the Islamabad deputy commissioner to ensure the preventive measures for the citizens to combat smog.
It was urged in the letter to the Islamabad deputy commissioner to ban the smoke-emitting brick kilns, industries, and vehicles. The EPA warned against the prevailing threat of smog in the twin cities like Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Multan and Faisalabad.
The EPA had also predicted the worsening of the air pollution in Potohar region in the forthcoming days.
Highlighting the challenges posed by the smoggy conditions, the EPA said: “The smog harms badly the people’s health, air, and economy. The smog can also lead to the heart, eyes, respiratory and skin problems.
“The EPA is taking measures to combat smog. But the air pollution can only be controlled with the cooperation of the district administration,” said the letter.
