The government has formed a 10-member task force to digitize the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) with the support of the SIFC (State Information and Facilitation Center).
The task force has been given a broad mandate to comprehensively digitalize FBR's operations and improve its overall system. Key objectives include policy-level interventions for FBR's digitization, automating all data, implementing software solutions, and collaborating with provincial revenue authorities.
The task force also aims to establish an automated supply chain system for wholesalers and distributors, as well as develop a track-and-trace system through integrated automation. Additionally, converting the Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) into an independent IT bureau is part of the plan to generate data and statistics for better planning.
Forming an effective interface with trade partners to determine accurate pricing and estimates is also among the team's goals. The government is committed to leveraging the benefits of technology to improve revenue collection, enhance transparency, and streamline the tax system in Pakistan.
