Prince Harry is reportedly ready to mend ties with his estranged brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law Kate Middleton.
However, royal expert Tom Quinn revealed in an interview with *The Mirror* that the Duke of Sussex has set a condition for this reconciliation: he expects an apology from the royal couple.
“He [Prince Harry] wants to reconcile with his brother so that the children can have some kind of a relationship, but he and Meghan still think that a grovelling apology needs to come from William and Kate first,” Quinn said.
This move comes after the couple’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, during which Meghan Markle disclosed that key members of the royal family expressed concerns over the skin colour of their then-unborn son, Prince Archie. The alleged racist remarks have remained a significant point of contention between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family.
The accusations shook the royal institution, leading Buckingham Palace to release a statement: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan. The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much loved family members."
While Prince Harry is reportedly open to rebuilding his relationship with Prince William for the sake of their children, the demand for an apology signals that deep-seated wounds still linger between the Sussexes and the senior royals.
