Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) recently shared a video on their official Twitter account, claiming it showed tear gas shelling on their supporters during the ongoing protest at D-Chowk, Islamabad.
However, a fact-check has revealed that the video in question is from an older Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) protest during PTI’s tenure in power.

The misleading video shows protesters, many of whom are wearing turbans, a signature style associated with TLP. In contrast, the current PTI protest includes a more diverse group of participants, with no such dominant presence of turbans. This discrepancy and the video’s date have caused the party to face significant backlash on social media for presenting an outdated video as a current event.
This controversy comes as PTI continues its protest against the current government in Islamabad, leading to heavy police presence and road closures across Punjab and the federal capital. Several key routes from Lahore to Islamabad have been blocked, and three PTI workers have been arrested. Meanwhile, PTI leader Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema and Uzma Khan, were also detained from D-Chowk and transferred to a women’s police station.
