Protests erupted across cities and towns in Azad Kashmir in response to the recent elections held in Indian-occupied Kashmir. Demonstrators criticized the electoral process, describing it as a propaganda exercise by the Modi government.
Protesters highlighted the continued heavy military presence in the region and the detention or house arrest of numerous pro-freedom leaders and activists. They argued that these conditions undermine the legitimacy of the elections.
During the demonstrations, participants chanted slogans against the Indian government and condemned the electoral process. They called upon the United Nations to fulfill its resolutions and facilitate Kashmiris' right to self-determination.
The protesters also denounced what they termed as unjust cases filed against pro-freedom leadership by Indian authorities. They demanded the immediate release of detained leaders in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Demonstrators contested the BJP's claims of restoring peace in the region, asserting that the situation on the ground contradicts this narrative. They emphasized that the people of Kashmir would continue to advocate for their right to self-determination.
