Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session starting tomorrow, where he will advocate for resolving long-standing global issues, particularly the Palestine and Kashmir disputes.
His agenda will also include addressing the rise of Islamophobia and promoting international cooperation to counter the challenges of climate change.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will meet with several world leaders and engage in discussions with the UN Secretary-General and the President of the General Assembly. He is expected to emphasize the need for reforms in the global financial system and promote measures to reduce inequality in international economic relations.
Shehbaz Sharif will reiterate Pakistan's support for the United Nations' role in ensuring peace, security, and global prosperity. Environmental challenges and their impact on vulnerable economies will also be key talking points in his meetings.
Prime Minister’s schedule does not include a formal meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, confirmed that Shehbaz Sharif will address both the General Assembly and the Security Council.
The Prime Minister's attendance at the UNGA follows his brief visit to London, where he was received with police protocol upon arrival at Luton Airport.
