Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed from Lahore for the USA via London ahead of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York.
After a one-night stay in London, the prime minister is scheduled to fly to New York on the evening of September 23. His participation in the UNGA meeting is a key highlight of this trip, where he is expected to address various global issues.
Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch will not accompany the PM to New York due to her commitments related to preparations for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has also been excluded from the delegation for this trip.
Sources indicate that Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Information Minister Atta Tarar will be part of the delegation accompanying Prime Minister Sharif. The latter will travel to the US directly tomorrow, as he is reported to be unwell.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office confirmed that Foreign Secretary Baloch and Deputy Prime Minister Dar have been excluded from the delegation due to their responsibilities related to the upcoming SCO meeting. However, she emphasized that the PM's schedule for the UNGA session remains unchanged.
