Lahore Police have requested the Deputy Commissioner to place 42 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers, including prominent member Mian Aslam Iqbal, under house arrest.
This decision comes amid a crackdown that has already led to the detention of over 70 PTI supporters.
Authorities claim they are compiling lists based on data related to individuals deemed likely to disrupt peace and order.
The police have taken precautionary measures ahead of a planned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) public gathering by placing containers in key areas, including Greater Raqbal Park and Ravi Road near Minar-e-Pakistan.
These containers are intended to block roads if the rally is not permitted, reflecting concerns over public safety.
In anticipation of a possible backlash from PTI supporters, the police have erected additional containers at city entrances. Officials have indicated that roads will be closed to protests or gatherings that lack the necessary permissions.
