The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a written decision mandating an expedited ruling on the bail applications of the PTI founder and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the Toshakhana 2 case.
Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb's three-page judgment highlights the National Judicial Policy, which sets specific timeframes for deciding bail applications—three days for a magistrate, five days for a sessions court, and seven days for a high court.
The court clarified that these time limits also apply to special courts, such as the Special Judge Central, where the bail applications are currently pending after the case was transferred to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The petitioners' legal team had earlier requested a speedy resolution, citing unnecessary delays in the bail decision.
The Islamabad High Court's directive ensures that the special court must adhere to the five-day deadline for issuing a ruling on the bail plea.
