The Suzuki Cultus - a popular choice among budget-conscious urban commuters - is set to see a significant increase in its total cost due to newly introduced taxes by the Pakistani government.
The updated vehicle tax regulations will impact both filers and non-filers purchasing the popular 1000cc car.
The Suzuki Cultus - known for its compact design and practicality in city traffic - remains a favourite despite a slight dip in popularity compared to previous models.
Its affordability, coupled with fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs, makes it a preferred option for personal use and ride-hailing services like Uber and Careem.
Under the new tax regime, buyers of the Suzuki Cultus will face different tax brackets based on their filer status. The Cultus VXR, which is priced at Rs 38,58,000, will incur an additional tax of Rs 38,580 for tax filers.
However, non-filers will face a heftier tax burden of Rs1,15,740.
For those opting for the higher-end Cultus VXL-AGS, which is priced at Rs45,46,000, the additional tax will be Rs 45,460 for filers.
Non-filers will be required to pay an extra Rs 1,36,380, reflecting a considerable increase in overall cost for those not in the tax-filing bracket.
The imposition of these taxes aims to encourage broader tax compliance and potentially reduce the financial burden on the national treasury. Buyers are advised to consider these additional costs when budgeting for their new vehicle purchase.
