Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Wednesday asked the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to stage the protests but do not cross the red-line.
Expressing his thoughts, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart said: "The arrival of the police in the parliament is shameful. But there is also a need to condemn those speeches delivered along with the masked people during the public gathering."
He lashed out at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, saying, "KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur has challenged the writ of the state and warned of attacking the state with the group of people, which is all about derailing the democracy."
Few days back, Asif expressed his opposition to engage in talks with the PTI, distancing himself from any such efforts within his party.
Speaking to journalists following a high-level consultative meeting of the PML-N's top leadership at the party's Model Town secretariat on Thursday, Asif stated, "I am not part of any such team and am not in favor of talks with the PTI."
– Glowing tribute to martyrs on Defence Day –
Separately, last week, Asif had paid glowing tribute to the martyrs on the occasion of the 59th Defence Day.
Expressing his thoughts on occasion of September 6, Asif said: "It is due to the great sacrifices of the martyrs that the country has become invincible."
"The enemies are supporting the terrorism from across the border," Asif lamented.
He maintained: "We will protect every nook and cranny of the country."
