The federal government has declared Tuesday, September 17, a public holiday in honour of Eid Miladun Nabi.
According to an official notification issued by the Cabinet Division, this holiday will enable citizens nationwide to commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
As a result, government, semi-government, and private offices, along with banks, schools, and colleges, will remain closed on this day.
On Sept 4, chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, had announced that the moon for the Islamic month of Rabiul Awwal was not sighted anywhere in Pakistan. As a result, the 1st of Rabiul Awwal will commence on September 6.

In his conversation with the media, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad had confirmed the committee's decision after thorough consultations and reports from across the country. He also stated that Eid Miladun Nabi, the celebration for the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), will be observed on September 17.
The announcement came after the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and other relevant bodies, carefully reviewed the crescent sighting reports from various regions.
