A tragic incident occurred in the Garden West area of Karachi, where three people including two children lost their lives after falling into a well on Sunday.
The victims have been identified as Badr, 8, and Talha, 12, both of whom resided near the site of the incident.
According to rescue officials, the children were playing near a residential apartment when they began jumping on the lid of an old well. The lid, unable to support their weight, suddenly gave way, causing both boys to plummet into the well.
Local residents immediately alerted authorities, and a plumber was called to assist in the rescue efforts. Police reported that the well was dry, which made the rescue operation more challenging due to the narrow width of the structure.
During the operation, a rescue official attempting to reach the children also became trapped but was eventually extracted safely.
The rescue teams were able to retrieve the body of one child. The other child and a young man who had entered the well to save the children were pulled out in critical condition but succumbed to their injuries shortly after.
