Paris has declared a war on bed bugs, as the blood-sucking insects are spotted everywhere including cinema seats, public transport and in hotels.
The bedbugs spread irked Parisians at times when the ‘city of love’ prepares to welcome thousands of tourists for the Olympics next year.
Here are the five tips to get rid of bedbugs:
Check carefully purchase of second-hand furniture: There are a lot of resale going on of second-hand furniture on sites like eBay and Facebook and it actually helping bed bugs spread. So, it is advised to check any purchases carefully before bringing inside.
Keep distance from your suitcases: When you’re in a hotel, keep the suitcases away from the bed as much as possible. Just take what you need from the case and zip it back up – don’t store your clothes in the drawers or on a rail.
Regular Inspections: Be vigilant and conduct regular inspections of your living spaces, especially mattresses, furniture, and crevices where bedbugs may hide. Early detection can help prevent a severe infestation.
Reduce Clutter: Minimize clutter in your home, as bedbugs can hide in various items. Removing unnecessary items can make it easier to identify and treat infested areas.
Wash and Heat Treat: Launder all bedding, clothing, and curtains in hot water and use the highest dryer setting. Heat is an effective method for killing bedbugs and their eggs.
