A state of emergency has been imposed in Israel following a series of attacks by Hezbollah.
The militant group fired more than a hundred explosive drones at Israel, along with a total of 320 rockets. In response to these actions, the Israeli Defense Minister announced a state of emergency for the next forty-eight hours.
Hezbollah stated that the attacks were carried out to avenge the killing of Wad Shukar. In retaliation, Israel claims to have conducted 40 strikes against Hezbollah targets. The Israeli Prime Minister has called a meeting of the security cabinet to address the situation.
Flights to and from Tel Aviv have been suspended in the wake of the attacks.
Hezbollah announced that it had launched an attack on Israel in retaliation for the killing of Fuad Shukr in Beirut.
This comes after the IDF identified Hezbollah preparing to fire missiles at Israel and, in response, began striking terror targets and launch sites in Lebanon, IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari said on Sunday morning.
According to Ynet, citing reports from Lebanon, 40 targets were struck by the Israeli air force. Ynet also stated that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant approved the preventative action against Hezbollah in the Kiryah on Saturday night.
From 05:30-07:00 am, Hezbollah claimed it launched 320 rockets from Lebanon towards the North, and several falls were detected. Sirens sounded repeatedly across the North, reaching as South as Acre.
Departures from Ben Gurion Airport will be delayed for the next few hours and flights en route to Ben Gurion Airport will be redirected to alternative airports in the region, Israel Airports Authority announced on Sunday morning. Airlines were informed that the skies in Israel will be closed until at least 10:00, they added.
