Four members of a Lahore-based family tragically died, and one remains in critical condition after they were found in a semi-conscious state by the Motorway Police near Bhera on the highway.
The Motorway Police discovered five individuals in a semi-conscious state in a car during a routine patrol and immediately transported them to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Bhera.
Despite efforts to save them, four of the family members -- 60-year-old Romila, 30-year-old Mehwish, 28-year-old Samar, and four-year-old Aoun -- succumbed during treatment. The fifth member, 30-year-old Umar Qasim, is still under medical care.
According to a spokesperson for the Motorway Police, all five individuals were from the same family and were travelling from Lahore to Islamabad when the incident occurred.
Preliminary reports from doctors suggest that food poisoning could be the cause of death, although an investigation has been initiated by the Phularwan Police Station to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
