Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar has made a significant claim about former ISI chief Lieutenant General (R) Faiz Hameed, alleging that there was ongoing communication between Hameed and the Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail.
This bombshell was dropped during the latest episode of "Nadeem Malik Live" on Sama TV.
He asserted that messages were being exchanged between the former ISI chief and the jail official, suggesting a coordinated effort behind the scenes. The minister highlighted that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) initially distanced himself from Faiz Hameed but has since come to the spy chief’s defense.
Tarar further claimed that there was a plan for Faiz Hameed to stay in his position to support the PTI founder’s political ambitions.
According to Tarar, there was a notion that Hameed should remain in his role to facilitate the PTI founder's continued power. This was reportedly linked to a strategic need to ensure that Hameed, as ISI chief, could influence key decisions, including the appointment of the army chief.
The minister also pointed out that Imran Khan had resisted the idea of separating Hameed from his post as DGISI.
Tarar revealed that the military is conducting an internal investigation into these communications and is expected to provide further details on the prison network from the Punjab government.
