The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Wednesday approved a whopping Rs5.75 per unit increase in electricity rates for consumers of K-Electric.
The hike of Rs 5.75 per unit is a result of the monthly fuel price adjustment (FPA) for May.
For the month of May, electricity tariffs will see an increase of Rs 2.59 per unit, while June’s adjustment will add an additional Rs 3.16 per unit to consumer bills. These changes are set to be reflected in the electricity bills issued for the months of October and November.
The regulatory authority has confirmed that this price hike will apply to all lifeline customers as well as those utilising electric vehicles, impacting a wide range of consumers across the city.
The authority stated that these adjustments are necessary to align with the fluctuating fuel costs used in power generation.
