Father of Pakistan’s fastest bowler Ihsanullah Abdul Nasir has made an urgent appeal to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding his son’s rehabilitation.
Speaking to local media in Lahore, Nasir expressed serious concerns about the quality of facilities in Swat, where Ihsanullah is currently undergoing recovery.
The plea comes in the wake of Ihsanullah’s ongoing struggle with an elbow injury that has plagued him for over a year.
Despite undergoing surgery in England, the right-arm fast bowler’s recovery has been impeded by inadequate medical support and facilities in his hometown of Swat.
Nasir’s appeal follows recent decisions by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who had initially arranged for Ihsanullah’s rehabilitation to take place in Swat. While Naqvi’s gesture was intended to provide convenience, Nasir argues that the current arrangements fall short of the necessary standards for effective treatment.
“Ihsanullah’s care is not being properly managed in Swat due to the lack of essential facilities and experienced doctors,” Nasir said. “I request the PCB to relocate my son to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, where he can receive the appropriate care and ensure that his career is not compromised.”
Nasir’s concerns were underscored by a meeting with Nadeem Khan, Director of Academies, to advocate for Ihsanullah’s transfer to the NCA. Support for this move also came from Malik Nasir, Ihsanullah’s coach in Lahore, who stressed the importance of relocating the 21-year-old bowler to the NCA.
“Given Ihsanullah’s status as Pakistan’s fastest bowler, it is crucial for his career that he receives the best possible treatment,” Malik Nasir stated. “Failing to do so could jeopardize his future in cricket.”
