In a ceremony celebrating a historic milestone for Pakistani sports, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir honoured Olympian Arshad Nadeem at the Army Auditorium GHQ.
The event, held to commemorate Nadeem's remarkable achievement of winning Pakistan's first-ever gold medal in a singles' Olympic event, was attended by a distinguished array of sports teams and legendary athletes.
The ceremony was graced by notable figures from various sports disciplines, including the 1984 Olympic and national hockey teams, the national cricket team, street football team, army polo team, and athletes from visually impaired cricket and women’s goalball teams.
Prominent sports legends such as Jehangir Khan, Islahuddin, Shahbaz Senior, Sohail Abbas, Muhammad Asif, and Aisamul Haq were also present. Arshad Nadeem's close relatives, associates, and coaches were in attendance to celebrate his success.
General Munir praised Nadeem for his extraordinary achievement and lauded his perseverance and courage. He highlighted how Nadeem’s dedication and hard work led to breaking records and setting a new standard for Pakistani athletics on the global stage.
The COAS described Nadeem's journey from humble beginnings to Olympic greatness as an inspiring example of commitment and excellence.
