Mehmood Khan Achakzai, the head of the Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP), underscored the need for justice and reform in the current political system.
Speaking at a ceremony organised by his movement in Lahore, he expressed concern over the prevailing injustices and called for comprehensive investigations into past incidents.
Achakzai highlighted the events of May 12, when shots were fired in broad daylight during the then-Chief Justice’s visit to Karachi, leading to a division in the country. He insisted that these incidents, along with the more recent events of May 9, should be thoroughly investigated to ensure justice for all.
Criticising the current leadership, the TTAP leader stated that those who fail to provide justice and basic necessities like food have no right to govern.
He pointed out that the founder of Pakistan’s largest political party, PTI, remains in jail, and questioned Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s decision not to intervene in his release, calling it a missed political opportunity.
Achakzai went on to stress that the independence of Pakistan was meant to secure the people’s right to rule, but the existing system is failing to deliver.
He warned that the country is moving towards degradation and emphasized that the TTAP was established not to overthrow any government but to ensure justice and unity.
“The current system cannot go on and that the dawn of a “New Pakistan” has already begun,” he added.
