The brave soldiers of the Pakistan Army consider their love for the homeland to be a fundamental aspect of their faith. The Pakistan Army's warriors have consistently shown their bravery throughout the nation's history, whether defending the country's borders or fighting terrorism.
Sepoy Soban Majeed Baloch from Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir, set a high example of courage and valour. Sepoy Soban Majeed gave his life on July 15 while preventing a terrorist attack in Bannu, without any regard of his own life.
In the process of sacrificing his life, Soban also saved many others. In an act of utmost bravery and heroism, the sepoy laid down onto a grenade thrown by terrorists in order to save his comrades. This act provided him a shield against great destruction.
The martyr has left behind his parents and his widow. The family of Soban Majeed expressed their feelings and emotions, saying: "Allah’s grace was upon Soban that he was pious and had good morals since childhood."
His father said: "Soban had a keen interest in joining the Pakistan Army since childhood. Before joining the Pakistan Army, Soban went to Muzaffarabad with his friends and prayed for his recruitment."
He further said that a month before is martyrdom, he came home and specifically asked for prayers for his martyrdom. "On the evening of July 15, we received the call that Soban had embraced martyrdom by the grace of Allah. A comrade of Soban narrated that he threw himself on a grenade hurled by terrorist to save his fellows."
The father said further: "A few moments later, Soban’s friend heard him recite the kalma, and Soban became a martyr."
He said death is inevitable and it is a great honour for him that his son was martyred for his homeland. "I request that the Boys Middle School be upgraded to High School and named after Shaheed Soban."
His mother said Soban was her only son, who cared for her the most and was very dear to her. "Soban was very close to me since childhood and couldn’t live without me. Before leaving the last time, Soban asked me to pray for his martyrdom."
She said Soban was very brave and not scared of death. "I am very proud that my son sacrificed his life for his homeland. It is a matter of pride for us that we are recognized by the name of a martyred."
Soban's brother said: "In our area, everyone knows us by the name of the martyr and our respect has increased even more after Soban’s martyrdom. The time we spent together was very memorable and we miss our dear brother a lot."
He said he was proud his brother had the courage to lie on a grenade and become immortal.
Soban's wife said her husband was very kind, soft-hearted and brave, and that she considered herslef very fortunate to be a martyr’s wife. "Soban embraced martyrdom with great bravery, and I also have to live the rest of my life with the same bravery."
"We came to understand that martyrs are selected by God from an early age after Soban's martyrdom."
