A cowardly attempt by terrorists to attack Bannu Cantonment early this morning was thwarted by the swift and effective response of security forces, according to reliable sources.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:40am when the terrorists detonated a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) on the road situated between the outer wall of Bannu Cantonment and the supply depot. The explosion was intended to create an entry point for the terrorists to infiltrate the secure area, the sources added.
However, they said, the vigilant security personnel stationed at the Cantonment responded promptly, effectively cornering the attackers and preventing them from breaching the perimeter. The timely action by the security forces ensured that the terrorists' plans were foiled before they could cause further harm.
"Effective action has cornered the terrorists," sources stated, highlighting the professionalism and readiness of the security forces in dealing with the threat.
Following the failed attack, security forces initiated a comprehensive clearance operation to ensure that no remaining threats were present in the area. The operation is ongoing, and authorities are determined to secure the cantonment fully and prevent any future attempts of this nature.
