BJP Member of Parliament and Dalit leader Ramesh Jigajinagi has voiced strong criticism against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, claiming discrimination against lower castes and minorities. Jigajinagi expressed disappointment over not being given a ministerial position, asserting that most central ministers belong to upper castes.
Jigajinagi stated, "I was warned about BJP and Modi's hatred towards lower castes, but I didn't pay attention." He further claimed that the BJP is an anti-Dalit party that has sidelined Dalits.
This criticism follows similar concerns raised by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who accused the Modi government of wanting a country without Dalits and backward classes, where only upper castes can rule.
The U.S. State Department has also expressed concerns about human rights violations and oppression of minorities in India this year.
These developments highlight growing tensions within the BJP and increasing scrutiny of the Modi government's policies towards lower castes and minorities.
