The family and relatives of a boy, who died two years ago after being hit by a car in Islamabad, have set up a protest camp outside the National Press Club in the capital seeking justice.
According to details, two people, including Shakeel Tanoli, had died in June 2022 after being hit by a speeding vehicle in the Khanna area of Islamabad.
Shakeel's father Rafaqat Tanoli had sought action, after which it was found during the investigation that the vehicle used in the accident belonged to the Lahore High Court. Rafaqat later approached the Islamabad High Court over the Islamabad police's laxity in proceeding in the case.
Shakeel's family members demand that action should be taken against those responsible for his death in the car accident.
In 2022, a sports vehicle allegedly driven by the daughter of a Lahore High Court judge hit two people near the Sohan bridge on the Islamabad Expressway on June 8, 2022 midnight. The investigation into the case had remained stalled.
According to judicial record, Shakeel Tanoli and his colleague Hasnain Ali were going home at midnight when they were hit by an SUV allegedly driven by a woman.
According to the details, the woman fled the scene after leaving the vehicle behind. The police seized the vehicle, which was subsequently transferred to an official of the Lahore High Court on'superdari' in July 2022, with the assurance that he would produce the vehicle in court as and when required.
